TVS Forays Into Electric Mobility With The iQube Electric Scooter; Prices Start At INR 1.15 Lakh

TVS Motor Company has announced its foray into electric mobility with the launch of the TVS iQube Electric Scooter in Bengaluru, India. Launched at a price of INR 1.15 Lakh, the iQube Electric is powered by an advanced electric drivetrain and next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform.
Powering the iQube Electric is a hub-mounted electric motor that has a peak output of 4.4 kW (6 bhp) and a peak torque of 140 Nm. TVS claims a top speed of 78 kmph and an impressive acceleration of 0-40kph time in 4.2 seconds. The scooter can travel up to 75 kms in a full charge. The scooter has two riding modes – economy and power – and comes with regenerative braking.[gallery size="full" ids="14673,14672,14669"]The 3 Li-on IP67 rated battery pack comes encased in high strength aluminium extrusion casing that makes it water and dust resistant. The scooter can be charged from either a 5A charging socket, a smart home charging unit or a public charging station. The home charger and installation are included in the cost of the scooter. It charges from nought to full in 5 hours. The battery on the iQube is not removable.[gallery size="full" ids="14670,14671"]TVS iQube Electric is equipped with the company's SmartXonnect platform and comes with a TFT instrument cluster and the TVS iQube app, and has multiple features such as Geo-fencing, Remote Battery Charge Status, Navigation Assist, Last park location, Incoming call alerts/SMS alerts among others. Other notable features include Q-park assist, Multi-select economy and power mode, and Day and Night display.
Commenting on the launch, Shri. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor Company, said, “TVS Motor is driven by Customer-Centric Innovation. Our focus on the ‘Green & Connected’ youth of India, is embodied, in the first of the TVS Electric portfolio. TVS iQube Electric is a blend of an advanced electric drivetrain and the next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform."Suspension duties are carried out by telescopic forks and twin shocks at the rear. Similarly, the iQube Electric gets a 220mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels.
